Hamrit Roopnarain

Hamrit Roopnarain passed away on September 15, 2023, at the age of 81 in Langhorne, PA. He was born on May 14, 1942, in Guyana. 

Hamrit's life will be celebrated through a series of events. The visitation ceremonies will take place at Philadelphia First Church of the Nazarene located at 1701 Shelmire Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19111. The first visitation will be held on September 22, 2023, starting at 6:00 PM and concluding at 9:00 PM. The second visitation will take place on September 23, 2023, starting at 8:30 AM and ending at 9:30 AM. Following the second visitation, a Prayer Service will be conducted from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM in the same location. Finally, Hamrit Roopnarain will be laid to rest at Greenmount Cemetery situated at 4301 N Front St, Philadelphia, PA 19140. The burial ceremony is scheduled to begin at 12:30 PM on September 23, 2023.

Hamrit was known for being fun-loving and lovable by all who knew him. His warm personality and infectious smile brought joy to those around him. He had a kind heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Hamrit Roopnarain is preceded in death by his wife, Anjo Roopnarain and his daughter, Ruth Etienne. Hamrit is survived by his daughter Roxann Persaud and brother Kallawan Rupnarain. Hamrit leaves behind a cherished legacy through his grandchildren Jean Etienne Jr., Jonathan Etienne, Daniel Persaud, Samuel Persaud, Natasha Persaud, Luke Persuad and Evette Persaud, a great-grand daughter, Annisha Etienne, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In his career as a Corrections Officer, Hamrit Roopnarain made a profound impact on the lives of those he served and worked with. He will be remembered for his commitment to justice, his dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of others, and his unwavering integrity.

As we bid farewell to Hamrit Roopnarain, let us remember the love and kindness he shared with the world. May his soul rest in eternal peace, knowing that he has left an indelible mark on the hearts and lives of those he touched.
