John J. “Jack” Starr, 69, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026 of Washington Twp., NJ formally of Haddon Heights.

Jack proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, a part of his life he was always proud to talk about. He was a caring, laid-back man with a great sense of humor who never seemed to run out of stories to tell.

Jack had a special way of bringing people together through his stories and memories. He especially loved talking about his days playing football at Haddon Heights High School, his experiences working on the oil rigs in Wyoming and California, and, of course, his time in the United States Marine Corps. These stories were a big part of who Jack was, and his family will always remember the way he could sit back, talk, laugh, and keep everyone listening.

Jack is survived by his wife, Mary “Lulu” Starr; his daughter Breanne (Jerry) Presing of Westbrookville, NY. His siblings: Terri (Muja) of Gloucester City, Jimmy of South Carolina, Eileen (George) of Haddon Heights, Thomas of Oaklyn, Joanne of Colorado, Joseph of North Carolina, and Beth of Haddon Heights. He is also survived by step children Veronica (Billy) and Dan; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Mary and James, his brother Patrick, his step daughter Jackie, and his grandson Scott.

Jack will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His stories, his laughter, his love of the Marines, and the memories he created with those around him will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.

Jack will be laid to rest on September 8, 2026, 11 AM at Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery, Williamstown, NJ.
