Juan Colon Mercado

Juan Colon Mercado, a cherished member of the Philadelphia community, passed away on June 21, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on January 5, 1946, in Aibonito, Puerto Rico, Juan's journey through life was marked by his hard work, self-taught skills, and an extraordinarily kind disposition that touched the hearts of those around him.

Juan’s life was characterized by his unwavering dedication to his family and his profession. He worked diligently to provide for his loved ones, embodying the virtues of resilience and determination. His nurturing spirit left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege to know him.

He is survived by three devoted children: Maria M. Colon, Ricardo Colon, and Orlando Colon. Juan also took great pride in being the loving grandfather to five grandchildren: Adrianna Ortiz, Kelli Colon, Rick Colon, Donald Jr. Logan, and Victoria Logan, as well as a great-grandfather to two great-grandchildren, Laylanie Ortiz and Christina Logan. His legacy of love and kindness will continue to live on through them.

Juan was preceded in death by his father, Aguedo Colon Sr., and his mother, Virginia Mercado. Their memories will forever be cherished by his family, who honor his life and the values he instilled in them.

Family and friends are invited to honor Juan’s memory with visitation on July 1, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM at Compagnola Funeral Home located at 4405-07 North 5th St., Philadelphia, PA 19140. Following the visitation, a burial service will be held at Greenmount Cemetery at 4301 N Front St., Philadelphia, PA 19140, starting at 1:30 PM.
