Maria Ortiz Mateo

Maria Ortiz Mateo, of Philadelphia, passed away on October 14, 2026, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, surrounded by family. She was born on November 26, 1966, in Ponce, Puerto Rico.  

Maria, a loving mother and wife, will be remembered as a woman of warmth, generosity, and deep devotion to those around her. Very hospitable by nature, she welcomed others with an open heart and a caring spirit. She cared for all she could, offering kindness in ways both great and small, and leaving a lasting impression on the lives she touched.  

She found joy in life’s simple and beautiful gifts. Maria loved to garden and loved to cook, creating comfort and connection through the things she made with her hands. She treasured spending time with her family and took special joy in watching her grandchildren grow. She was also fond of her time in Puerto Rico, a place that remained dear to her heart and memory.

Those who knew Maria will remember the love she gave so freely, the hospitality she extended so naturally, and the steady presence she brought to her family. Her life was marked by care, closeness, and a generous spirit that will continue to be felt by all who were blessed to know her.

A memorial service will be held on October 30, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Compagnola Funeral Home- 5th St., 4405-07 North 5th St., Philadelphia, PA 19140.
