Modesto R. Hernandez

Modesto R. Hernandez, a cherished father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at the age of 82. Born on February 19, 1943, in Caguas, Puerto Rico, Modesto was known for his loving, fatherly demeanor and his simplicity in life, which endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

For 42 years, Modesto was happily married to Maria E. Hernandez, who preceded him in death. Together, they created a legacy of love and family that will forever resonate through their children and grandchildren.

Modesto is survived by his devoted children: Sara, Johnny, Joel, and Josue, who is married to Emily. His family continued to grow with the blessings of his grandchildren: Noel, Joel, Penelope, and Elijah Modesto. Additionally, he had the joy of being a great-grandfather to Joel Hernandez Jr., whose presence brought light to Modesto’s later years.

The community is invited to join his family in celebrating Modesto's life. Visitation services will be held on February 24, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Compagnola Funeral Home located at 4405-07 North 5th St., Philadelphia, PA 19140. Following the visitation, a burial service will take place at Greenmount Cemetery at 12:30 PM.

Modesto R. Hernandez leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, kindness, and familial devotion. He will be profoundly missed by his family and all whose lives he touched.
