It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend Pedro Pablo Betancur Toledo who departed from this life surrounded by his family on September 20, 2025.
Pedro Pablo was born on October 23, 1950 in Medellín, Colombia. He was a visionary who lived a life full of love, lifelong learning, and perseverance. He was an upright, honest, and loving family man. He celebrated 30 years of a beautiful and happy marriage with his wife, Catalina Maria, with whom he raised two beloved children - Gabriel and Catalina. Pedro Pablo was devoted to his family and instilled a love for learning, a heart of advocacy, and most importantly a strong foundation in faith in God alongside his wife. He is remembered by his family for his wisdom, craftsmanship, and resourcefulness, among his many other talents.
Pedro Pablo worked as a Civil Engineer in Colombia and left behind an indelible mark on its landscape and people. In addition to his major engineering projects, Pedro Pablo was a public servant. He served as Governor of Antioquia, Secretary of the Department of Treasury, and Mayor of Rionegro, among other positions. In all of these roles, he not only acted with social responsibility, professionalism, and honesty, but also left an unforgettable mark on the people who surrounded him.
Pedro Pablo moved with his family to the United States in 2009 where he enjoyed quality time with loved ones and developed new friendships and skills. He was known for his unwavering work ethic, leadership, optimism, and for always caring for the people around him.
Pedro Pablo is survived by his wife, Catalina Maria, their children, Gabriel and Catalina, his siblings, and his daughter in-law. Together they will carry forward his legacy with honor.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 1:00pm at Saint Anthony Church, 70 Washington Avenue, New Haven, CT 06519. Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life and legacy.
A Burial Service will take place at a later date in Medellín, Colombia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Gift of Life Howie’s House in Philadelphia.
Pedro Pablo Betancur Toledo will be remembered by the way in which he loved the people and the environments around him. He had a special gift of connecting with everyone and bringing his light into every interaction. As a visionary, Pedro Pablo was able to see the best qualities in everything and everyone and constructed beautiful and unforgettable memories and interactions with his surroundings. In this time of mourning, let us celebrate the life of Pedro Pablo Betancur Toledo, remembering the joy and strength he brought into our lives and the indelible mark he left on our hearts.
